EDITORIAL
We are so lucky in Cornwall to be surrounded by such a wonderful coastline and, beyond that, such wildlife-rich seas. The aim of this themed issue of Wild Cornwall is to promote understanding of our marine environment, enjoyment of it and involvement in its conservation.
"If you see it, say it," is a catchphrase that comes to mind. As our Seaquest project, Dolphin Group and Seal Group have demonstrated, anyone can make an important contribution to our marine knowledge simply by telling us straight away when they see a dolphin or other large sea creature - alive or dead. Each fragment of information helps us clarify the picture, giving us a firmer basis for our conservation strategy and bringing solutions to wildlife's problems at sea a step closer.
We hope the Trust's publications, news releases and events will help explain the issues involved. As in all other areas of conservation, we would like you to pass that knowledge on to others and to act on it if possible. For some, that might involve a major voluntary effort. For all, it can involve voicing your opinions and considering the possible impacts on wildlife of your actions, electoral choices and purchasing habits.
Whatever you do, you have already helped the Trust to make a difference in the marine environment through your continued membership, donations or practical assistance. Please never underestimate how important your contribution has been.
